The Five-Step Survival Guide for Working Women: Step 4 - Embrace Prayer

"...the storm subsided, and all was calm." - Luke 8:24

Let's take time to reflect on the journey you've undertaken so far to deal with persistent stress.

  • First, you identified the core issue, narrowing it into a concise word (or perhaps two words).

  • Next, you searched the scriptures, seeking verses that included your word(s). Along the way, you likely experienced moments of divine revelation, sensing God's guidance in your readings.

  • You may have noticed recurring themes or words, uncovering deeper meanings and connections.Certain verses might have stood out or were repeated. Through this search of scripture, what God unveiled to you became uniquely personal—a tailored message for your circumstances and your heart.

Now is the time for prayerful reflection.

  • Consider what God has unveiled to you, seeking His wisdom to understand His Will.

  • Take your time.

  • Approach God with openness, allowing Him to clear your heart and mind of outside influences and fears, filling you instead with His divine thoughts.

Over these next two weeks, take the following steps:

  1. Reread the verses that stirred your soul. Ask God for guidance on your next course of action and for insight into His plan for you for dealing with this stress. Document your prayerful reflections.

  2. Ask God for protection against an onslaught of Satan's attacks. Satan wants to sow anxiety and turmoil and prevent calmness in the storm. Arm yourself with the full armor of God, as outlined in Ephesians 6:10-18.

  3. Ask God to reveal to you if there are any attitudes—such as fear, pride, or worry—that may affect your ability to deal with your stress. Identify and acknowledge an attitude you sense God is prompting you to address.

  4. Ask God for clarity regarding the next step in your journey. This may involve eliminating stressors, making a change, having a conversation, seeking counsel, or simply resting in His presence. Recognize that this next step will be as unique as the issue you face.

  5. Document one practical step you believe God is guiding you to undertake.

Taking this to God in Prayer:

Thank You, God, for helping me deal with the stress I am navigating. I commit to seeking Your guidance in every circumstance, and to lining up my actions and words with Your will. Grant me the wisdom to know Your path and will for me and the courage to follow it faithfully. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Praying that God richly blesses you as you seek His guidance.
